I saw this short animation on Vimeo. I really like the eye popping colours used, and the style of the modelling.
It's the second viewing that you see the little details they have put in that foreshadow the abrupt ending. It's cool.
Definitely the sort of themes and style I like.

This short was ok. When I was watching this, I felt a good connection with the character from being in this position myself. Then after about 6 times of driving backwards and forwards, I was waiting for something new; but never got it.
ReplyDeleteThe theme of the story is good, but it really takes away from the credibility when he gets squashed by a big leg of ham. That to me felt like the creator of this short got bored or lost interest, by putting no effort and time into the ending. He could of ended it better if he had the car almost out and then he needs to park again because he has forgotten something, or as he was nearly out of the parking spot the lady that exits the store gets into the car in front of him and drives off. Having irony can create some humour and a greater belief and would make the audience feel for the character more. The style for this short is really cool though and the design of the cars have been done well, they do have a lot of little small bits of animation happening in this as well with the leaves moving in the wind and the birds tweeting.
I was wondering what that ham sign was about. I don't think they got lazy I think they had a very basic idea and a fun joke to animated to, which is great for a short. But I do think that Josh's idea about the lady getting into her car as the guy almost gets out of the spot to work just as well, but then the little quirks, such as the ham sign and the run over rabbit would have little significance in the black humour of the short.
